Recent Fandoms: Princess Maker 5, Hatsukoi Limited

I’m not entirely proud of this, but I’ve started to love both Hatsukoi Limited and Princess Maker 5. It’s not like I want to become a full-fledged otaku or something D:

Plus, Hatsukoi Limited is probably the most ecchi non-ero manga out thar, while Princess Maker seems to be something like … just for otakus. It’s like iDOLM@STER, after all. With moe voicing too. Although, I don’t believe it’s an eroge. If it were, orz… JISATSU! |D If this goes on, my pride as the unisexual online fictional entity Demi-otaku would be deeply hurt, as my tendencies are sliding towards 75% otaku more like.

Either way, I refuse to give them up… for now at least. Princess Maker I’ll probably get sick of soon enough, after I’ve beaten the game at least once. Then again I take really long for games. (Which is part of why I usually watch > game. The other reason is.. well, I suck at gaming. OTLOTLOTL unlike somebody.)

Therefore, I shall proceed to justifying my choices. (read: Fanranting Ahead.)

Death Note Spin-off: L - change the WorLd.

Change the WorLd

I watched this two days after the movie came out over here. Big cinema, but not that many people… also, since the majority of this post was written ages after I watched it, forgive me if I’m losing interest here.

Hm. Well, the movie was, in my opinion, more than I expected (especially after all the bad ratings) but at the same time less than what I’d hoped :c I guess it’s mostly because of the change in director damnit (he directed less well-known horror movies, for goodness’ sake), and spin offish scriptwriting. No Death Note, Misa and Raito and Watari are obviously dead since the end of the second movie, etcetera etcetera.

It’s pretty sad, but it’s the truth. Either way, I enjoyed the acting (including L’s babysitting), and aside from the plot and a few (fine, make that quite a few) overdramatised yet meaningless scenes, plus the (pretty obvious to me at least) rip-off of the Ebola movie Outbreak, it was pretty bearable. Even the littered Engrish all around and the Spanish, and Naomi and her weird acting o_o. Just make sure you get a discount on your movie tickets. It would appear, though, that the makeup artists got lots of jobs for the entire movie - quite surprisingly, lots of gorey scenes, a la Outbreak, I guess. Bleeding eyes, severe cases of acne (bleeding, swollen pimples, that is) I’m Kidding, GAIZ, bad guy with a greyish eye and queer veins like Lal Mirch’s except his is on the other side of his face, etcetera.

spoilers maybe.

Honey and Clover JDrama Not-So-First Impressions

Love Song Productions and SARS-Fansubs are working on the HachiKuro (short for Hachimitsu and Clover or Honey and Clover) JDrama at the moment, and I decided I would give it a try, despite a bad impression of the movie (then again I think I was in a bad mood while watching it, so.. Well.). Partially because I watched the whole two seasons of anime, and liked it despite it being in my not-so-pet genres of Romance and Slice-of-Life (it is part of the Romantic Comedy genre, though), and also because Ikuta Toma and Narumi Riko (not-bad actors by my standard) are acting in it (pictures later, I promise), I was pretty much looking forward to it even before it came out :3 Also for the Nodame JDrama fans out there, Mukai Osamu, who played the side-role of Kikuchi Tooru (the cello guy, if I’m not wrong) also appears in H&C as Mayama :D More on Nodame (esp the SP, no pun intended) later, if I bother to =w=.

Honey and Clover Jdrama START!

Honey and Clover, as I mentioned, was adapted from a shoujo manga to two seasons of anime, and the story mostly revolves around several art college students and a Koropokkur, as well as their love lives and er. How they live their lives, especially with such a random person as Morita-senpai. Don’t worry, despite how vague it is it mainly becomes a love story later on. So romance lovers (lol), this is for you.

Some interesting trivia got off Wikipedia before you have to click ‘Continue Reading..’ : The title of the series, Hachimitsu to Kurōbā, stems from Chika Umino (the mangaka)’s two favorite albums: Hachimitsu by SPITZ and Clover by Suga Shikao, due to which Spitz and Suga Shikao’s songs are featured prominently in the anime. I’m quite a fan of SPITZ and Suga Shikao’s music, I must say. Smooth, unique voice and soothing/interesting/whatever music = songs pleasant to the ear *w* (Oh, and as you can see I do not know my music terms at all, even after watching Nodame. Not that it’s a failure, absolutely not, but it’s probably just me and my loserness.)

Caution before you go on: very very long, luosuo post.

EOY ‘07 over, bad pics taken :C

Yes, this post is really late. Yes, what the title of this post says is true. :c I truly wish I tried taking Photog classes, now. But yeah, though my dad likes to take pictures of anything and everything it’s not like I really love the camera as much as he does. Hence, you should be able to guess what happened T_T Anyway, I’ve selected quite a few out of the 149 or so pictures I took that I have edited in Photoshop and thought up witty comments to accompany them with, but to no avail. Thusly this is the result of whatever I’ve done. Half of the pictures are left still very grainy, many more have bad lighting (is it just me or is the Expo really that dark? :\), and I do not know what the hell I am typing from now on.

Sorry, But I Just Had To Do This.

Cloning + Simon = This.
Simon had quite a few Shugo Chara’s up his sleeve.

Byousoku 5 Centimetres - Finally Got to Watch the Whole Thing, Pretty Backgrounds and all…

Initially I’d wanted to post about Yakitate!! Japan and how ridiculously funny it was, but somehow when I’m not trying to catch up, it doesn’t seem like a very important nor interesting thing to post about :\ Oh and Nobuta ended… in quite a unique way, I thought, but not much to post about either D: And as for KHR… =w= still catching up with the anime, but no high expectations at all. None.

Ahwell, I finally got to watching Byousoku 5 Centimetres, literally 5 Centimetres per Second. The title refers to the supposed speed at which Sakura/Cherry Blossom petals drop, according to Akari, the main character Takaki’s apparent childhood friend and crush.

The movie is split into three chapters/parts, respectively named Oukashou (Extract of the Cherry Blossom), Cosmonaut and finally Byousoku 5 Centimetres, or 5 Centimetres per Second, named after the movie itself. The first part was shown online (pay to watch), and I’d seen it quite a while ago, but not the other two parts. All in all, it was a great movie, but not quite enough to move me. (Hardened heart and all?)

Spoilers ahead… I’ll mostly be recalling what I remember of the movie and comment here and there.

Promotional poster for Byousoku, featuring Takaki and Kanae.

The text on the right reads: At what speed must I live, in order to meet again?
