I’d just like to say that I don’t mean the character, but rather the actress playing Mitsuko in Battle Royale, Shibasaki Kou.
…No wonder I recognised her face somewhere before… *shivers in fear* Brutal killings. And considering Shibasaki-san was 19 (or rather, younger by a bit) when filming Battle Royale (2000), and can both act and sing, that’s pretty darned good, isn’t it.
Anyway, she isn’t the main focus of this post, and nor is Battle Royale (Good boys and girls, please do not try to watch this movie before you turn 16. Or something. Remember to Grow Up first!), which, by the way, I only watched halfway. Reading the stuff on Wikipedia I’m kinda glad I didn’t watch the part about her past.
Instead, the main focus is on Galileo (10 episodes), where she plays a novice detective, Utsumi Kaoru, who has to rely on a scientist nicknamed ‘Weirdo’, ‘Galileo’, etc. Yuukawa Manabu (played by Fukuyama Masaharu) to solve the many seemingly supernatural or unsolvable cases she faces by proving a solution via science. It’s very educational (in terms of physics, science and the like), thought-provoking (or maybe it’s just because my science isn’t so advanced yet) and entertaining all at once, and there are numerous humorous (no pun intended) situations throughout.
